National Space Day

National Space Day is observed in India on August 23 each year to commemorate the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s southern polar region on August 23, 2023. This achievement made India the fourth country in the world to land on the Moon and the first to reach the lunar south pole. Its aim is to foster national pride and encourage students and researchers to further contribute to development of space science and technology in India Theme for National Space Day 2025 is – “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities” The day celebrates the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) pivotal role in advancing scientific discoveries, satellite launches, planetary exploration (such as Mars Orbiter Mission), and global reputation in space technology ISRO was established in 1969 by efforts of dr vikram sarabhai and started from launching humble sound rockets at thumba to india s first satellite aryabhatta to futuristic mission like Gaganyaan , NISAR and Bharatiya antariksh station
